Immediate full time need in KCMO law firm for a Document Specialist in KC, MO law firm for up to 6 month contract.

We have an opening for an individual who would be responsible for scanning and coding of documents, maintaining litigation notebooks, assisting with document productions, and participating in trial preparation. You would be working with state of the art technology on complex and interesting litigation in a collaborative environment.
Our client, a KCMO law firm has a need for a Legal Document Specialist on a full time contract basis.
Temporary Employee is responsible for arranging their own parking upon 1st day of hire. Demonstrates an intermediate understanding of the functionality of various databases and/or document management system(s) used to perform daily tasks. Applies proper naming conventions to electronic documents and navigates effectively through electronic file folders and/or database structures. Examines physical and electronic documents and other records for the purpose of coding, organizing or indexing information according to firm and/or division/section procedures. Completes multi-step projects, using department/division/section group knowledge and problem solving skills, with supervisory review. Creates, organizes and maintains files in accordance with proper procedures, including the completion of complex tasks necessary to support the evolution from paper to electronic file systems. Scans and codes/profiles documents to the proper folders in various databases. Assists in the creation, structuring, maintenance and disposition of files. Creates and maintains electronic and hard copy notebooks for case management purposes. Participates in trial preparation, including assistance with the creation, verification, and/or organization of exhibits. Assists with packing files and acquiring necessary supplies for use at trial sites. May participate in trials assisting with trial site operations. Demonstrates and applies an understanding of the Records Retention Policy. May use scanning and OCR softwares in an efficient manner to support an electronic records management workflow and operating environment. Assists with special projects as directed by supervisor or timekeepers. Performs audits of records contained in various files and department/practice group databases to ensure firm/department standards and quality assurance.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to type 35 WPM. Aptitude for numeric and alpha filing. Familiarity with legal terminology is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to perform basic searching in databases relied upon by the division/section and/or department.
